As Manager Individual Giving, you will lead one of New Zealand Red Cross’s most important fundraising portfolios, overseeing the development, delivery, and growth of individual giving programmes. This includes direct marketing, one of New Zealand’s largest and most effective regular giving programmes, and an emerging digital and mid-level fundraising portfolio.

Reporting to the Director Philanthropy, you will translate strategy into high-impact operational plans, using insight, testing and innovation to deliver sustainable supporter and revenue growth. You’ll also play a leadership role in emergency appeals, collaborating closely with senior leaders across Communications, Marketing and Engagement in fast-paced, high pressure environments.

This is a strategic and hands-on senior leadership role where performance, people management and innovation come together – directly enabling humanitarian action across Aotearoa and beyond.

In this role you will:

  • Develop and deliver operational plans aligned to the Directorate Business Plan.
  • Lead and optimise the full individual giving portfolio, including direct marketing, regular giving and digital/mid-level fundraising.
  • Use data and supporter insights to drive performance, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Understand industry trends and embed best practice across all activities by testing, piloting, and continuously improving programmes.
  • Build trusted internal relationships and manage external agencies and suppliers to deliver strong return on investment.
  • Lead emergency appeals in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgets, and performance reporting for the portfolio.

People leadership

  • Lead, support, and develop a high-performing team of fundraising professionals.
  • Set clear performance expectations and provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Oversee planning, delivery, and supervision of projects across the team.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-trust team culture aligned with Red Cross values.
  • Work closely with other Philanthropy specialists to ensure an effective collective supporter lifecycle.

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei?

To be successful you will have:

  • Significant experience leading successful individual giving programmes, including direct marketing, regular giving and digital fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex portfolios and delivering income growth in a competitive fundraising environment.
  • Proven people leadership experience, with a track record of building engaged, high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability, with experience managing large and complex budgets.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Empathy for humanitarian causes and alignment with the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement.
