About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

As our Advisor, Trusts and Foundations, you’ll play a key role in growing meaningful philanthropic partnerships that drive our humanitarian impact. This role would be perfect if you’re someone who lives for great storytelling and genuinely enjoys the world of fundraising. You’ll use your writing superpowers to craft compelling narratives that inspire support, while helping build strong, purpose driven relationships to make a real difference for New Zealand Red Cross. 

If you’re passionate about creating positive change and securing vital support for Aotearoa communities, we’d love to have you on our team.  

In this role you will: 

  • Craft compelling grant applications and proposals that secure funding for programmes nationwide.  

  • Deliver timely, outcome-focused accountability reports to external funders.  

  • Manage and monitor all active grants to ensure contractual obligations are met.  

  • Build strong internal relationships and provide training on grants best practice.  

  • Develop and maintain trust and foundation donor relationships, ensuring exceptional stewardship and recognition.  

  • Identify new funding opportunities and contribute to annual grant planning, staying across sector trends to drive revenue growth. 

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? 

To be successful you will have: 

  • 3–5 years’ experience in grants-focused fundraising, with a strong track record of delivering quality content.  

  • Exceptional writing ability, producing clear, compelling content tailored to diverse audiences.  

  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to craft strong applications and persuasive narratives.  

  • Highly organised, with excellent planning skills and strong attention to detail.  

  • Confident communicator and influencer, experienced working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Calm under pressure, able to manage deadlines, navigate ambiguity, and deliver high quality work in a fast-paced environment.
