Advisor Communications and Engagement

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
We have an exciting opportunity for an Advisor Communications and Engagement to join the team at Red Cross House in Wellington.
In this role, you will coordinate communications for Red Cross programmes, with a broad generalist focus in internal and external communications. You will produce engaging communications materials, be a strong writer, have excellent relationship management skills and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
In this role you will:
- Provide communications advice including key messages and communications plans for a range of issues across the organisation.
- Produce communications material for Red Cross channels (web, socials, intranet and media) and meetings across different organisational portfolios as required.
- Respond to internal and external requests in a timely manner and prioritise strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
- Have some existing experience, and a willingness to use and learn, key digital communications tools and channels including e-newsletter platforms, content management systems and design and insights platforms.
- Manage, develop and maintain communications strategies, materials, resources and plans.

To be successful you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in journalism, communications or another relevant field is required.
- Three to five years’ experience working in a communications, media or journalism role.
- Strong writing skills, and experience writing content for varying channels; media, web, social media and technical copy editing and proofreading.
- Experience using a wide range of online and social media tools.
- Proven experience working with people from a range of backgrounds, including people in vulnerable situations.
- Experience or ability to develop and implement communications strategies and plans.
- Understanding of marketing, publishing, design, printing and distribution processes.
- Experience working with media, with strong knowledge of the local media landscape and existing media contacts.
