About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

As the Retail Property and Project Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the future of our national Red Cross Shop network. Reporting to the Director Retail, you will coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of retail-related projects, in particular new shop openings, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This exciting new position involves working closely with the wider Retail team and cross-functional groups across New Zealand Red Cross. From supporting the opening of new shops to driving technology implementations, corporate partnerships, and other strategic initiatives, you’ll be at the heart of projects that make a real impact in communities across Aotearoa.

This role offers flexibility of hours throughout the week (Monday – Friday), and there may be occasions when travel for new shop openings and some additional hours are needed. 

In this role you will: 

  • Research and plan new shop locations and assess potential sites for expansion.
  • Coordinate the development and opening of new Red Cross Shops, ensuring all retail initiatives are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Create and manage project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, such as IT, Property, Finance, Regional Managers, contractors, and real estate agents, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and conduct site visits to confirm compliance with plans and operational readiness.
  • Oversee shop setup and launch activities, including merchandising, installation of POS/EFTPOS systems, and implementation of administrative processes.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Director Retail and other key stakeholders

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? 

To be successful you will have: 

  • Solid understanding of retail operations, construction processes, and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to working across multiple teams.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities, able to prioritise, multitask, and work with pace and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while being competent in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).

NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of circa $65,000 (pro-rata to 18.75 hours) for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.
