Senior Advisor – Rangatahi Engagement

Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)

Flexible location anywhere in Aotearoa New Zealand

We offer a total remuneration of $73,836 for this role, which comprises of a base salary of $71,685 as well as 3% employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga 

In this role you will: 

The Senior Advisor, Rangatahi | Youth Engagement provides subject matter expertise and thought leadership organisation-wide on rangatahi engagement (ages 5–30) and experience. This, in turn supports our people leaders in implementing our youth engagement strategies, increasing youth representation and in attracting and engaging a diverse New Zealand Red Cross membership.

In this role you will act as the subject matter expert and thought leader on youth engagement, driving the development and implementation of effective strategies and plans

Build strong relationships, act as a connector and enabler between national and local teams and ensure alignment and collaboration on shared goals

Advocate for rangatahi voices through championing the inclusion, representation and empowerment of young people, particularly those from historically marginalised communities, within all levels of New Zealand Red Cross

Regularly engage with and advise young leaders, particularly in governance roles, to build capacity and support their roles.

If you know how to navigate ambiguity, connect with young people and champion their voices, have a deep understanding of te ao Māori, care about making youth engagement more inclusive and meaningful, and want to influence real change – this role is for you.

Our ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Drive and initiative to lead change within a complex organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that demonstrate honesty, integrity and ethics in all decisions and actions
  • An emerging humanitarian leader who models integrity, challenges with respect and is comfortable having courageous conversations that support growth and accountability
  • Sound understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te ao Māori and tikanga Māori. Literacy in te reo Māori is highly regarded, but not essential.

This role requires occasional travel and the flexibility to work outside standard business hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. A current, full, and clean driver’s licence is also recommended.
