Manager, Governance

NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of $102,370 for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
The Manager, Governance will lead the team that manages the secretariat and management support functions for our governing bodies, executive and senior leadership teams. They will also be the steward of New Zealand Red Cross statutes and organisational policies, playing a central role in ensuring our compliance with good governance practices, and legislative requirements. We offer flexible working options and would require the same level of flexibility for Board and Governance meetings of which you will be required in the office.
In this role you will:
- Manage the secretariat function for National Council and National Board;
- Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, agenda, minutes and National Board and National Council papers;
- Lead and manage a team of Management Support staff, ensuring they meet the needs of the organisation and General Managers while overseeing their performance, training, and development;
- Oversee and lead the logistics and planning for the annual National Council event, including the official components for the Annual General Meeting;
- Ensure information and papers are distributed in accordance with the New Zealand Red Cross requirements and good governance practices;
- Manage the secretariat function for the Executive Leadership Team and tier 3 management cohort;
- Manage logistics and support for Executive Leadership Team meetings and Away Days and Senior Leader Hui;
- Coordinate and maintain organisational statutes and the policies library.
Who are we looking for? – Mā wai te mahi nei?
To be successful you will have:
- A tertiary qualification or similar;
- A minimum of 5 years providing support at an executive level or working with executives and/or boards;
- Experience in developing governance processes and capabilities;
- Demonstrated project or event management experience;
- Experience managing people / teams;
- Experience in membership and/or volunteer-based organisations;
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong relationship management skills;
- High attention to detail, ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality;
- Advanced knowledge in IT with excellent skills in the Microsoft suite of applications, particularly MS Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to tactfully manage sensitive situations, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and adapt to changing priorities;
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to the work of New Zealand Red Cross.
