New Zealand Red Cross is looking for a strategic and relationship-driven Manager, Planned Giving to lead and develop our major gifts and legacy programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact by cultivating meaningful relationships with high-net-worth donors and legacy pledgers, ensuring sustainable funding for our humanitarian work across Aotearoa and beyond.
Reporting to the Director, Philanthropy, you will lead the strategy and implementation of major gifts and legacies programmes. You’ll manage and mentor a team of four, fostering a culture of excellence in donor stewardship and relationship management.
While Auckland is our preferred location for this role, we welcome applications from candidates in Wellington.
In this role you will:
- Develop and execute strategies to grow major gifts and legacy income.
- Build and nurture relationships with high-net-worth individuals, philanthropists, and legacy donors.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing fundraising team, setting clear objectives and driving results.
- Oversee donor stewardship, ensuring exceptional supporter experiences that enhance long-term commitment.
- Collaborate across teams to integrate fundraising efforts with organisational goals.
- Manage prospect research, pipeline development, and data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure the ethical and respectful management of bequests and legacy gifts.

To be successful you will have:
- Proven experience in leading and growing major gifts and legacy fundraising programmes, with a track record of securing significant donations.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors.
- Strong leadership and team management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop fundraising professionals.
- A strong communicator, both written and verbal, with polished presentation skills and attention to detail
- Strategic thinking and the ability to identify new opportunities for growth.
- Knowledge of estate planning and legacy giving best practices is an advantage.
- A commitment to the mission and humanitarian principles of New Zealand Red Cross.
