Manager Migration Employment

Fixed Term until 30 June 2026

Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Location: Flexible

This is a fixed term role until 30 June 2026; however, it is contingent on funding being secured from the Ministry of Social Development. If this funding is not obtained, the fixed term will end on 30 September 2025.

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga 

In this role you will: 

  • Lead and manage 6-7 regional managers to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services aligned with New Zealand Red Cross’s outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery and meet organisational goals.
  • Provide expert technical support to managers, ensuring alignment with best practices and compliance with Social Sector standards.
  • Support the organisation's transition to an integrated, unified way of working and contribute to strategic direction-setting.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor managers to build high-performing teams and ensure operational and strategic success.
  • Provide strategic and operational advice to senior leaders, including risk monitoring and management for the program’s delivery.
  • Foster positive relationships with external stakeholders and manage reputational risk across multiple regions.
  • Oversee the management of budgets, KPIs, and resources across regions, ensuring alignment with New Zealand Red Cross’s strategic priorities and financial sustainability.

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? 

To be successful you will have: 

  • Strong understanding of employment processes, particularly the challenges faced by refugees and vulnerable migrants in securing employment.
  • Knowledge of government funding processes, reporting requirements, and experience managing significant budgets and performance outcomes across remote teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, with a proven record of leadership in collaborative environments and a history of driving innovation and challenging conventional thinking.
  • Experience working with former refugees or having lived experience as a refugee, with a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges.
  • Ability to navigate complex, dynamic environments, demonstrating resilience and proactive leadership through ambiguity and change.
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and intercultural skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, foster strategic partnerships, and inspire confidence.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to New Zealand Red Cross’s values and a passion for empowering diverse individuals and teams.
