Social Worker/ Settlement Team Manager

Permanent Full–Time - 37.5 hours per week.

About the role – Kōrero me the tūranga 

Lead our Pathways to Settlement programme, making a lasting impact in the lives of former refugees. You’ll manage a small dedicated team and play a key role in supporting refugee resettlement in our community.

As a Senior Social Worker, you’ll ensure safe practices, oversee client support, and develop social and settlement services in Blenheim. Additionally, you'll build strong networks with community providers and streamline referrals to mainstream services.

In this role, you will: 

  • Lead and support staff who are undertaking case work, and settlement and volunteer support  to maximize their contributions and maintain staffing levels within budget;
  • Ensure quality service through casework monitoring and adherence to New Zealand Red Cross policies and standards;
  • Coordinate intake and settlement activities, liaising with agencies and community groups;
  • Manage casework and crisis support, assist with client settlement plans, and provide tailored social work support;
  • Conduct assessments, and make relevant referrals while advocating for client access to services;
  • Support and communicate with volunteers and assist with settlement tasks as needed.

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei? 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in social work with relevant experience in the field;
  • Be fully registered with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board;
  • Showcase expertise in strengths-based social work and intercultural awareness;
  • Have good organisational skills and recent experience managing a multidisciplinary team;
  • Possess lived experience with refugees or a deep understanding of the refugee resettlement process.
