Assistant Shop Manager
Permanent, Part-time – 19 hours per week
Sunday, Monday and Wednesday Shifts

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our vibrant Mount Maunganui shop. This is a fun, fast-moving retail environment that gets especially busy over the summer months, so you’ll be someone who enjoys a bit of hustle, takes pride in keeping the shop looking fresh and inviting, and has a good eye for quality clothing labels. You’ll help create a great shopping experience for customers, support the team day to day, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. As our 2IC, you’ll also step in when the Shop Manager is away to delegate tasks, support sales performance, and help maintain a safe, positive and welcoming environment for everyone.
In this role you will:
- Provide excellent customer service and able to connect with a diverse customer base
- Promote/drive sales
- Know clothing labels and can merchandise accordingly
- Utilise your solid cash management and till management experience
- Assist with shop presentation/displays
- Undertake stock management/preparation and control as per training
- Support volunteers’ adherence to our Health, Safety and Wellbeing practice

To be successful you will have:
- Cash handling, cash management, and retail shop operations skills
- A background in retail sales and bonus if it’s in a charity environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven merchandising ability in a retail shop and a solid understanding of clothing labels
- Confidence working with or alongside volunteers
- Skills in dealing with a range of different customers
- Enthusiasm and commitment to work as a team member of Red Cross
- Self-motivation and a positive and friendly approach
- Reliability and work with integrity
