Advisor Planned Giving

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
We are seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Advisor Planned Giving to join our Philanthropy team. This is a newly created role and is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about building meaningful donor relationships and supporting the growth of major gifts and legacy giving at New Zealand Red Cross.
As Advisor Planned Giving, you will lead the development and implementation of campaigns and donor journeys, nurture long-term donor relationships, and integrate legacy messaging across channels. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across Philanthropy, Events, Digital, and Communications to ensure planned giving is visible, compelling, and aligned with our values and strategic priorities.
While Wellington is our preferred location, we also welcome applications from candidates based in Auckland.
NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of circa $90k for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.
In this role you will:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate campaigns to raise awareness and inspire action for legacy and major gifts.
- Develop segmented donor journeys and stewardship touchpoints for legacy prospects and supporters.
- Lead the annual calendar of legacy marketing activities (mail, digital, events, print).
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of legacy and major gift prospects, ensuring accurate donor records in the CRM.
- Support the creation and management of Donor Societies and events for major donors and legacy pledgers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop compelling legacy storytelling and integrate messaging into organisational campaigns.
- Support digital fundraising initiatives, including campaign planning, supporter acquisition, and donor journey optimisation.
- Monitor and report on campaign performance, applying insights to enhance donor engagement and outcomes.
Who are we looking for? – Mā wai te mahi nei?
To be successful you will have:
- Experience in legacy fundraising, major gifts, or donor relationship management.
- Proven ability to develop and implement donor journeys and segmented campaigns.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with fundraising CRMs (ideally Raiser’s Edge) and donor data management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience in storytelling and supporter engagement.
- Ability to interpret campaign data and make evidence-based decisions.
