NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of circa $120k - $125k for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. You will provide service oversight, programme development and line management of RTR employees. The position is a member of the National Migration Team and contributes to development and delivery of the Group’s strategic plans.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage RTR to deliver its functions and responsibilities effectively and efficiently; and to contribute to New Zealand Red Cross.
- Contribute to strategic direction setting, financial sustainability and performance monitoring of the Migration Group against its strategy and operational goals.
- Model an understanding and appreciation for Te Ao Māori and lead staff in a way that develops their understanding.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional and national funding providers and ensure delivery of contractual outcomes, negotiating, monitoring, reporting and risk management.
- Develop and manage relationships with leaders of organisations, and senior health professionals, and specialist networks on refugee mental health.
- Manage and be accountable for RTR’s budget within defined parameters and ensure efficient and effective use of financial resources.

To be successful you will have:
- Significant experience in a refugee mental health operational environment with experience managing a multidisciplinary team which includes Cross Cultural Workers, Social Workers, Counsellors, Psychologists, and other therapists.
- A sound understanding of the refugee experience, and the importance of refugee-centred and inclusive servicing.
- Knowledge of mental health issues regarding trauma, post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, and resettlement.
- Experience in a complex and dynamic operating environment, including the drive and resilience to manage proactively through ambiguity and change.
- Successful experience representing an organisation, e.g. at national events and in the presence of media.
- Strong interpersonal skills, displaying honesty, integrity, and a demonstrated sense of ethics in all decisions and actions.
- Excellent networking and advocacy skills, particularly with mainstream service providers, government and non-government agencies such as DHBs, Work and Income NZ and Kāinga Ora.
