Assistant Shop Manager

Permanent, Part-time

10 hours per week: Thursday, Friday, Saturday shifts

NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of $58,460 for this role (pro-rata to 10 hours per week), which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team. This is a key support role where you’ll step in as second-in-charge (2IC) when the Shop Manager is away. You’ll help keep our shops running smoothly, looking their best, and delivering warm, welcoming customer experiences. In the absence of the Shop Manager, you’ll take the lead—delegating tasks, driving sales performance, and ensuring a safe and positive working environment for the team. 

In this role you will: 

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Promote/drive sales
  • Utilise your solid cash management and till management experience
  • Assist with shop presentation/displays
  • Undertake stock management/preparation and control as per training
  • Support volunteers’ adherence to our Health, Safety and Wellbeing practice

To be successful you will have: 

  • Experience in cash handling, cash management, and retail shop operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in a retail sales environment
  • Experience working as or with volunteers
  • Skills in dealing with customers
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to work as a team member of Red Cross
  • Self-motivation and a positive and friendly approach
  • Reliability and work with integrity
