Meals on Wheels Service Lead

NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of $59,051 for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. While remuneration rates are set to reflect that we are a humanitarian not for profit organisation, we believe our employee leave provision and flexible working arrangements, provide a highly rewarding work experience.

As a Service Lead, you’ll drive local service delivery, lead and inspire volunteer teams, and bring our Strategy 2030 to life. If you're a strong leader who thrives on making a difference and building community connections, we’d love to hear from you.
You'll harness technology and internal systems to help shape the future of Meals on Wheels through our new operating model. Working both independently and collaboratively—online and in person—you’ll help modernise how we engage volunteers, streamline outdated processes, and find smarter ways to increase our impact in local communities.
Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will be (but not limited to):
- Leading and supporting a team of volunteers, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience through effective induction, training, and ongoing engagement
- Overseeing day-to-day service delivery, meeting contractual obligations and maintaining high-quality standards in partnership with meal providers
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and privacy requirements, and take action to minimise risks for clients and volunteers
- Championing local implementation of Strategy 2030 by adapting service development initiatives to meet community needs and enhance impact
- Building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to support collaboration and strengthen community outcomes

Our ideal candidate for this role would have:
- Proven experience leading, supporting, and motivating volunteers, including recruitment, training, and change management.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to unexpected challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Confidence using technology and is open to learning new systems that support service delivery and volunteer coordination.
- Demonstrated skills in data-informed decision-making to drive continuous improvement and community impact.
- A passion for and working with volunteers, with the vision and resilience to lead through change and foster a collaborative, "One Team" culture.
