Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor

NZRC offers a total remuneration approach of $76,251 for this role, which comprises of base salary as well as employer contribution to KiwiSaver. About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
We’re seeking a dynamic Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Advisor to join our dedicated Health, Safety and Wellbeing team at New Zealand Red Cross. In this generalist role, you’ll provide expert support and guidance to managers, employees, and volunteers across the country.
As a key partner in our mission, you'll collaborate with various groups to develop and implement innovative HSW systems, policies, and initiatives that align with our strategic framework. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to lead exciting health, safety and wellbeing projects that make a real difference. In this role you will:
- Provide sound technical advice to support, review and implement HSW policies, standards and guidelines.
- Advise and assist in the implement of HSW projects, strategies, initiatives and programmes and training activities.
- Participate in internal HSW audits and investigations as required.
- Provide administrative support to the HSW team where required, including responding to HSW enquiries and escalate where required, collate HSW information and analyse HSW data for reporting purposes.
- Assist in the development of HSW communications as required.
- Participate and take the lead in HSW projects; and represent HSW on NZ Red Cross projects, committee meetings and other activities as required.
- Build and maintain positive, supportive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance HSW outcomes for NZ Red Cross.

To be successful, you will have:
- Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and relevant legislation.
- Proven experience as a health and safety advisor or coordinator.
- Experience in planning, designing, and implementing HSW systems and initiatives.
- Experience with health, safety, and wellbeing policy and procedure implementation.
- A strong background in health and safety risk management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with strong data analysis and reporting abilities.
- A team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to professional development and feedback.
