Psychosocial Mental Health Facilitator – Te Reo Māori Speaking

This role will ensure the delivery of high-quality Mental Health and Psychosocial training sessions and will contribute to the on-going learning and development of the Mental Health & Psychosocial Training Programme.
We are looking for a Te Reo Māori speaking facilitator who has a Mātauranga Māori approach to mental health to help us meet the needs of our communities. Therefore, the ability to converse in Te Reo Māori, and have an understanding of Te Ao Māori approaches to mental health and wellbeing would be an advantage.
A relevant qualification and work experience in a mental health related profession would be an advantage. For example, psychology, occupational therapy, counselling, social work or mental health nurse. Qualification and/or experience in adult education is also an advantage.
About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga
In this role you will:
- Be familiar with all course materials and know how to use them effectively.
- Plan, co-ordinate and manage the delivery of allocated courses.
- Adapt facilitation approaches to any industry requirements, experience and ability of the participants without altering required standards.
- Be prepared to answer participants’ questions or know where to find the answers.
- Be proficient at and able to demonstrate all skills taught.
- Identify participants who are having difficulty with the course and develop effective strategies for raising their competence.
- Participate in regular facilitator meetings, providing feedback on sessions and input to content as appropriate.

To be successful you will have:
- Facilitation skills in diverse adult learning environments.
- Intermediate to advance communication skills in Te Reo Māori, (verbal and written)
- Ability to confidently engage participants in course content and respond to questions/discussions appropriately.
- Ability to plan, deliver, and reflect upon training sessions.
- Willingness to adhere to New Zealand Red Cross’ Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures at all times.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Competence in a variety of computer applications particularly use of PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Empathy with humanitarian causes, have enthusiasm and commitment to work as a team member of New Zealand Red Cross.
